Adult participation and Support

Adults play a significant role in the lives of teenagers. Research shows that young people who have strong social support systems are more likely to navigate the rough waters of adolescence more successfully. In addition to parents, teens need other significant adults (teachers, coaches, scout leaders, youth ministry leaders, etc.) they can look to for guidance and support.

By witnessing to their own faith, adults act as role models, encouraging our young people to grow in faith and holiness. As mentors, adults apprentice young people and facilitate engaging, dynamic faith experiences.

The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) provides a special opportunity for youth and adults to share a powerful experience of Christ and the Church. Youth ministry leaders, chaperones, parents, and clergy all have a unique role to play in faith lives of adolescents and during NCYC. Learn more about how you can have a positive influence on the lives of young people.
