Partner

Even though the "Y" in NCYC is "Youth," that doesn't mean there's no role for parents, adults, church ministers, and other organizations. In fact, NCYC could not succeed without the partnership of many other individuals and groups. Here are a few "partner" opportunities for youth ministry leaders, parents, bishops/priests, and sponsors.

Youth Ministry Leaders

Youth Ministry Leaders Gather to LearnYouth ministry and small group leaders who are part of a larger (diocesan) group are vital to the success of the NCYC pilgrimage. These leaders are responsible for providing NCYC pilgrims with advance preparation and formation prior to NCYC as well as proper supervision, formation and prayer experiences during the event itself. By working closely with the diocesan leader/team, parish leaders can help Christ Reign in Kansas City this November.

In addition to dozens of youth-focused sessions, NCYC offers youth ministry leaders wonderful opportunities for professional formation and networking led by nationally respected presenters. Workshops specifically designed for leaders and volunteers in youth ministry include:

  • Forming Catholic Identity in Teens
  • Adolescent Spirituality
  • Diving into Scripture with Teens
  • The Adult Spiritual Journey
  • Youth Ministry Nuts and Bolts
  • Youth Ministry and Technology
  • Recruiting and Nurturing Volunteers

And why stop there? Over one hundred exhibitors will be on hand in the Reign Forest (the interactive thematic park) who have the latest and greatest resources available for ministering to and with young people today, plus you will have the chance to meet in person many of the outstanding national performers, speakers, and artists who help inspire and form youth and adults across the country.

Parents

FamilyNCYC invites parents to “come on down” to Kansas City this November. Many special programs and offerings are being developed to engage parents in the diversity and fullness of the young Catholic Church that gathers at NCYC. A special parent track of workshop session, presented by nationally respected leaders will touch on such topics as:

  • Parenting in a Media Driven World
  • Will Our Kids Have Faith?
  • Best Practices in Parenting Teens
  • Sharing Faith in the Family
  • Creating a Parent Network

In addition, a special parent hangout in the Thematic Park will be available for adults to meet and network with other parents, find helpful parenting resources and even talk through some of their issues and concerns with some experts in the field.

The most important reason for parents to be a part of NCYC is that you will be able to fully grasp and celebrate the transformative hand of God at work in the lives of the young church throughout this important gathering.

If you cannot attend NCYC, then prepare to follow along on the web as you witness the powerful general sessions unfold for your teen in Sprint Arena (more details to follow).

Bishops/Priests

PriestNCYC is a vocation director's dream come true! The presence of hundreds of lay, religious, and clergy, including dozens of bishops, interacting with young people in an atmosphere of faith and fun is a sight to behold and an opportunity not to be missed. From the vocation area in the Thematic Park, to the round table discussions with bishops, to daily celebrations of Eucharist and Reconciliation and a huge Eucharistic Adoration, there are hundreds of opportunities for our church leadership to be faithfully present to and with the young Catholic Church at NCYC.
